this is guide on how to put some mazzer mini burrs into your KitchenAid Proline Coffee Grinder.
This is hopefully a worthwhile upgrade for KitchenAid Proline Coffee Grinder owners. This mod also discovered the "flaw" i many KA grinders preventing them from grinding fine enough.
Please contact me if you have questions. -Enjoy.

vice

- a
sink wrench
- an allen wrench.
 what you need.
How to:
take the front off by unscrewing the thumbscrews next to the big black adjustment knob.
pull the floating burr carrier off the adjustment mechanism.
unscrew the stock burrs.
 centering the burr
Place the mazzer burr where the KA burr used to be. Center it on the floating burr carrier and hold it in place while you mark the position of the holes.
Drill the holes very carefully. Tap the holes with the tap. Screw the burr onto the
floating burr carrier.
 the mounted burr
drilled and tapped the holes. Mounted the burr.

 inside the KA without burr
this burr will sit in the curve wher the other burr was.
the new burr sitting in its new position
It will be stuck in there and its difficult to pull it out.. its a very nice fit. There is no need to
hold it in place or center it. You just need to rotate so the bottom 2
holes are horizontal. Mark the holes with the punch.
Mark, Drill and tap the holes.
These two holes end up going straight
though so be careful its only about 1/8” thick. But there is enough
material to get some threads for the screw to bite. So go ahead and tap the holes you just drilled.

the stationary burr mounted.
The mazzer burrs are slightly thinner than the Kitchen Aid burrs.
I ended up putting some shims behind the stationary burr. With out the shims the floating burr carrier can't go close enough to the stationary burr to , it leaves about 1/8” gap. i used some milk carton because i was in a hurry to get this done and didnt have anything else to use. i am sure metal would be better.
I think this is the reason why some of these grinders work and some dont. i think even with the stock burrs, the auger can bottom out and prevent the burrs from getting close enough to grind fine enough. so maybe with a slight variation in the auger production it creates a variation in ach grinders performance.
